This healthy date crumble is a take on a crumble topping. It uses dates and oats to create a streusel like topping that is highly versatile and tasty.
This date crumble is super simple and tasty! I love to use it on top of my chocolate banana ice cream, smoothie bowls, yogurt, cobbler or as a base for energy balls. Referred to as a "cookie" in my house, it's a yummy treat that you can spice up with nut butters.
Dates are full of minerals, commonly referred to as nature's candy. If you have ever had a fresh date, the sweetness alone can hurt your teeth! Oats are rich in fiber and antioxidants, making this a much more functional food option than your typical strusel.
To Make This Date Crumble:
Unless you can find super fresh dates, it's best to soak them in hot water for a few minutes inside a high speed blender container to soften them up. Then simply drain of ¾ of the water, add the oats, and blend until the mixture is well combined.
I have been known to make this with peanut butter, roll it into little balls, and you have energy balls in the fridge for a quick pick me up!
Add in options: protein powder, coconut, chocolate chips, dried fruit, chia seeds, nut butters.
