    Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Smoothie

This chocolate peanut butter protein smoothie recipe tastes like dessert in a glass. A staple smoothie of mine post-workout or for a sweet treat pick me up!

Smoothies are a great way to jam pack nutrients into your body in an easy-to-consume way. Even better - you can customize them however you like. That's why this chocolate peanut butter protein smoothie tastes like dessert.

    Chocolate. Peanut Butter. Protein. Smoothie

Yep, it's basically a liquid reeses cup. I am a huge chocolate person and when I get done running or working out, I am not very interested in eating (weird I know). If you put a chocolate smoothie in front of me though, I will drink it. Sneak is some protein and healthy fats to replenish those muscles, and it's tricking me into refueling in the yummiest of ways!

Flaxseeds and peanut butter add healthy fats to this smoothie, though feel free to swap out the peanut butter for whatever you have on hand. Protein powder and banana cover the carbs and protein in this smoothie. So, there you have it, a well rounded smoothie that tastes like a milkshake!

Don't feel limited to this just after a workout, it makes a great snack or breakfast as well!

    Home Cook Hacks

    * Pre-Frozen Bananas: In order to make sure I always have smoothie-ready bananas on hand, I buy several bunches from the grocery store and let them chill on the counter together until they are nice and spotty. Then, I peel them, stick them in a freezer bag, stick them in the freezer, and voila! Sweet, ripe bananas ready to go whenever you need them! Be warned, they like to stick together once they are frozen, so I typically use a paring knife to help coax one out when I need it. Not a big deal, just be careful when doing this! Keeping frozen bananas on hand is great because they add a great texture to smoothies. They transform them from liquidy to a more milkshake consistency.

*You can blend this up the night before and have it ready to go the next day. However, be warned - it will thicken due to the flaxseed and you'll have to add some water to thin it out!

    • Yield: 1 serving 1x
    • Category: Breakfast

    Ingredients

    Units Scale
    • 2 ripe bananas* (frozen taste great! )
    • ½ cup milk (I like almond)
    • ½ cup water
    • 1 tbsp peanut butter
    • 1 scoop protein powder (I like pea protein)
    • 2 tbsp ground flaxseed
    • 1 handful ice (omit if using frozen bananas)

    Instructions

    1. Add all ingredients to blender and blend 1-2 minutes until smooth.

    Notes

*the riper the banana, the sweeter this will be!

Can blend and store overnight but add water the next day as it will thicken due to flaxseed.

A board I put together reallll quick recently! G A board I put together reallll quick recently!

Got lots of video content comin' your way next week 👏 along with a new recipe.

Taking a bit to learn the editing BUT I think it'll be a powerful way to teach you all the ins and out of cooking!

A charcuterie board I made a while back that I fin A charcuterie board I made a while back that I finally edited photos of to share with you, as well as a story :)

Im coming to the end of a huge growth stage in my life and career as a food blogger.
When I quit my pursuit of grad school to pursue my dream of starting a food blog - I was so naive as to what that actually meant 😅

I quickly learned just HOW much goes on behind the scenes. Close to 2yrs later I learned to build a website, code, use a dslr camera, stage and edit photos, SEO, Pinterest, tailwind, analytics, video creation/editing and so so SO much more.

To be honest, it's been really fuhreaking hard work. Most of its been self taught. But I've also I invested a LOT of time, energy, and money into courses & equipment to teach me the basics and spent countless hours googling how to do things.

I've gained SO much respect for all the bloggers and creators of all types out there. There are days I really question why I'm not working in a hospital with a good salary and benefits. And there are days I am so stoked I decided to follow my dreams. It takes a ton of faith in the unknown to believe in yourself, to put your head down and crank when your questioning all your choices, and not give up.

Im beyond privileged to have the freedom to try and hack this, and I'm so grateful for that opportunity.

It's almost surreal to be sitting here at the end of this massive to-do list, with a full blown blog, and the knowledge and tools I have now to take it to the next step.

2022 is all about consistency for me and we've now reached the cranking out of content phase.
Lots of fun new series coming up :)

I have no idea what direction this blog will go in, its a serious labor of passion and love and I'm feelin good about what's to come.

Big thanks to everyone who has helped me along the way - and for supporting me :)
